I watched the OG Roswell a long time ago and while I enjoyed that I wondered why we needed a new one so, I didn’t make plans to watch it anyways.
During the lockdown, I was casually scrolling channels on my tv and I saw this show with actors I knew from so many series I had watched:
(Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy, The Originals, Pretty Little Liars and even the OG Roswell) I decided to watch the new one so after watching the random episode on TV I binged watched the entire season 1 that night and slept at dawn.
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. They had adult problems. The OG Roswell was in high school and they kindf had high school problems. I’m an adult I’ve got work and baggage from the past with adult problems so I could relate well.

What makes this an amazing series- The storyline, love triangles, the family love, great acting, ridiculously attractive people, the directing and just everything.

“Would You Come Home” is a song written and performed by character Alex Manes in The CW television series Roswell, New Mexico. It is about Alex’s past relationship with Michael Guerin and his abuse from his father Jesse Manes.
The song was actually performed by Alex’s actor Tyler Blackburn. It was written by showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie along with Leslie Powell and Charlie Snyder, and it was created specifically for the show.
Lyrics:
My father taught me home is where the hurt is
So I built a fortress
Where I lived alone
He said ships were never meant to have a harbour
So I’ve worn this armour
I’ve fought and flown
I was raised a soldier
Put my weapons down to hold you
Is a kiss an act of war?
I just tried to keep you warm
Even though I couldn’t stay
No, you never looked away
Now I can’t look away
Would you meet me in the middle?
Could we both stop keeping score?
There’s a battle I must fight alone
It’s you I’m fighting for
If I call off the battalion
Break my walls down stone by stone
Tear down my defences
I can build your heart a home
And if I did
Would you come home?
Together we could quiet all the noises
Drown out the voices
Play our own song
Boys becoming men under the desert sky
But something dark inside
Said it was wrong
I was raised a soldier
Put my weapons down to hold you
Is a kiss an act of war?
I just tried to keep you warm
Even though I couldn’t stay
No, you never looked away
Now I won’t look away
Would you meet me in the middle?
Could we both stop keeping score?
There’s a battle I must fight alone
It’s you I’m fighting for
If I call off the battalion
Break my walls down stone by stone
Tear down my defences
I can build your heart a home
And if I did
Would you come home?
I still find my father’s shrapnel buried
Beneath my skin
But I’ve begun to heal in all the places
Your hands have been
Would you meet me in the middle?
Could we both stop keeping score?
There’s a battle I must fight alone
It’s you I’m fighting for
If I call off the battalion
Break my walls down stone by stone
Tear down my defences
I can build your heart a home
And if I did
Would you come home?
I wish I found the words when we were seventeen
You were the best of me
You are the best of me.
In the beginning, he’s singing about his father and his influence on him. Then he’s singing about Micheal and Micheal left.
He then proceeds, he sings to his younger self that’s who he’s meeting in the middle by the end of the song.
I think Alex had to forgive himself break down his walls and make room for love, be at peace with himself and decisions to be able to be with Micheal, or even feel love and be able to love freely no pains.
