Explore The Best Ways To Watch Netflix’s Unique Heist Series: Kaleidoscope

By Deborah January 3, 2023

Netflix’s latest offering, Kaleidoscope is a unique heist series that offers viewers the opportunity to experience the story in a non-linear fashion, each episode is randomly ordered for viewers (except for the finale, “White”).

The show follows master thief Leo Pap and his team of criminals as they plan and execute the robbery of the most secure vault on the East Coast of the U.S. The series is comprised of eight episodes, each named after a different color and focusing on a specific aspect of the heist, from character backstories to the planning itself.

The finale, “White,” is the only episode that must be watched last, while the other seven can be viewed in any order.

According to Netflix, the order in which viewers watch the episodes will “affect their viewpoint on the story, the characters, and the questions and answers at the heart of the heist.” This offers a unique viewing experience, as there are over 40,000 possible combinations of the seven episodes leading up to the finale.

There are several different ways to approach watching Kaleidoscope.

Chronologically

If you want to have a linear viewing experience and stick to the chronological order, follow the order listed below.

This option is perfect for those who want to fully understand the timeline of events and see how everything fits together.

If you’re a stickler for chronological order, the episodes should be watched in this order:

Violet – 24 Years before the heist
Green – Seven years before the heist
Yellow – Six weeks before the heist
Orange – Three weeks before the heist
Blue – Five days before the heist
White – The heist
Red – The morning after the heist
Pink – Six months after the heist
Kaleidoscope chronological watching order

But where’s the fun in that? Kaleidoscope encourages its viewers to mix and match the episodes to create their own viewing experience.

With seven episodes (excluding the finale) to choose from, there are a whopping 5,040 possible combinations if you save “White” for last.

And if you’re feeling particularly rebellious, there are 40,320 ways to watch the series if you include the finale in the mix.

So what are the best ways to watch Kaleidoscope? Here are a few options:

Let Netflix Serve You

Another option is to succumb to the randomness and let Netflix serve the episodes to you in a randomly ordered fashion.

This can be a fun and unpredictable way to watch the show, as you never know what episode will come next.

However, it may also be frustrating if you feel that certain episodes are essential to understanding the overall story.

I got served in this way:

Yellow – Six weeks before the heist
Green – Seven years before the heist
Blue – Five days before the heist
Orange – Three weeks before the heist
Violet – 24 Years before the heist
Red – The morning after the heist
Pink – Six months after the heist
White – The heist

Mix and Match

Another option is to choose your own order, Mix and Match: Choose your own adventure by selecting the episodes in any order that strikes your fancy.

This option is great for those who want to customize their viewing experience and see how different combinations affect their understanding of the story and characters. However, it may also be harder to follow the story and keep track of the characters if you are skipping between episodes.

This is how I watched it. Randomly.

Yellow – Six weeks before the heist
Green – Seven years before the heist
Violet – 24 Years before the heist
Blue – Five days before the heist
Orange – Three weeks before the heist
Red – The morning after the heist
Pink – Six months after the heist
White – The heist

Ultimately, the best way to watch Kaleidoscope will depend on your personal preferences and what you value most in a TV show.

Do you prefer a more cohesive and linear story, or are you willing to sacrifice some clarity for the chance to experience the show in a more unique and interactive way?

Whichever approach you choose, Kaleidoscope is sure to be an engaging and entertaining viewing experience.

Kaleidoscope is a must-watch for fans of heist films and TV shows. So grab some popcorn and get ready to be entertained by this colourful and intriguing series.
